1.0 OUR CORE BELIEVE REGARDING USER PRIVACY AND DATA PROTECTION
- We (TheFreelancersPlaybook.com and the company behind this website, Langholz Group IVS) will never sell, rent or otherwise distribute or make public your personal information.
2.0 PERSONAL INFORMATION THAT THIS WEBSITE COLLECTS AND WHY WE COLLECT IT
On TheFreelancersPlaybook.com we collect and use personal information for the following reasons:
2.1 Website Usage Tracking
We, just like most websites in the world, uses Google Analytics (GA) to track user interactions/ behavior on our website. We use this data to analyze the number of people reading our blog to better understand, what content our audience loves and what content we should improve/discard.
Although Google Analytics records data, such as your approximate location, device, internet browser and operating system, none of this information personally identifies you to us.
E.g: Our data could look like this:
- Location: Copenhagen, Denmark.
- Device: Macbook.
- Screen size: 2440 x 1600 px.
- Internet Browser: Safari vers. xxxxx.
- Operation System: Mac OS vers. xxxxx.
Google Analytics also records the IP address of your computer, which could potentially be used to personally identify you, but Google does not grant us access to this and we wouldn’t have any use for this either. Google is one of our third-party data processor’s (see section 5.0 below).
You could also disable cookies on your internet browser, as that will also stop Google Analytics from tracking any part of your visit to pages within this website – Again, this might limit your experience on our website.
2.2 Our website
We love when our readers interact with us through commenting on articles we publish. Should you do this, please be aware that the custom name and email address you enter along with your comment will be saved with your computer’s IP address and the time/date that you submitted your comment in our website’s database.
We only save this information in order to be able to show your comment. We don’t sell this data, save additional data or rent out our your data. The only data that will be passed on to third-party data processors is your email address, which will ONLY be used to pull your profile photo from a connected Gravatar account. If you don’t use Gravatar, no data will be interchanged.
The comments you submit to our website, and it’s associated personal data, will remain on our website until we either 1) delete the comment or 2) delete the article.
If you wish to have a comment and the data associated with this comment deleted, please email us here using the same email you submitted your comment with.
2.3 Contact forms and emails
Should you choose to contact us using a contact form on our website, or an email address link on our website, the content of that email will be sent to us using the Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP). Our SMTP servers are protected by TLS (sometimes known as SSL), which means that the email is encrypted using a 256-bit cryptography before it is sent over the internet to us, where our local computers decrypt the email.
We use Google’s Gmail Service to read, store, write and send emails. Google is one of our third-party data processor’s (see section 5.0 below). What we can see is the content of the email, the email addressed the email was sent from and the time/date it was sent. We use the security settings that Google recommends and we treat access to our email accounts with the utmost care.
2.4 Email newsletter
If you sign-up to our email newsletter, the email address that you provided will be forwarded to MailChimp.
If you choose to join our email newsletter, the email address that you submit to us, along with potential additional provided data from the sign-up form) will be forwarded to MailChimp through Sumo who are both used for their email marketing services. We consider MailChimp and Sumo to be third-party data processors (see section 5.0 below). The email address, or additional sign-up data, that you submit will not be stored within this website’s own database or in any of our internal computer systems.
Your email address will remain within MailChimp’s database for as long as we continue to use MailChimp’s services for email marketing or until you specifically request removal from the list. You can do this by unsubscribing using the unsubscribe links contained in any email newsletters that we send you or by emailing us here. When you requested removal via email, please send your email to us using the email account that is subscribed to the mailing list.
While your email address remains within the MailChimp database, you will regularly receive newsletter-style emails from us – Ranging from 1-100 times/year.
We will send out emails that either 1) contain content from our website 2) promotes our own products 3) contains links to content that we really like from other websites or 4) shares our thoughts on topics related, but not limited to, themes as business and freelancing.
Should we change our thoughts on the content we want to send out through email, you’ll be required to accept these changes before you’ll receive any emails containing new types of content.
